‘I wish I could jump right into the screen!,’ my third grader exclaimed during our webcast with our new friends in Russia. That comment was surely a sign of a success in building a bridge across the miles. The children had bonded despite differences in culture and language. They each shared their textbooks, sang a song, (we even snapped our fingers together across the miles), and asked and answered questions.
‘They like the Harry Potter movies! They do have skateboarding there! And they study times tables just like us!’
There were endless waves and the giggles as we said goodbye. There will be requests for a Skype reunion soon.
