Whales!

February 2, 2009 ‘ I saw a small pod of whales cross our wake about 1/4 mile behind, one pretty big one, and an errant flying fish, heading south, all by himself. I shouted to him “Wrong way! The warm water is this way!”, but he paid me no mind.’  Students love hearing about animals that Rich sees at sea.  We looked at incredible video footage from http://www.arkive.com then on http://www.enchantedlearning.com

Then students  drew a whale that was breaching, logging, lobtailing or spyhopping and wrote a description of their whale.  We had a special remote visit from Sakari Shigeto from Sendai, Japan.  He joined in the fun and drew a whale for the kindergartners. Thank you Sakari Sensai!
